All of my life I had been living in Virginia. My family moved from Richmond to Fairfax, then from Fairfax to Chantilly, and from Chantilly to Reston. I have been everywhere. My mommy worked at Kaiser and made a lot of money. Everything that I asked for on my Christmas list, I got. Then one day we moved and it changed everything. We moved to Washington, D.C. I had never seen anything like it before. It was so ghetto and trifling. I was used to living in the suburbs and the city was a new thing for me.

When I moved to D.C., I moved to Rock Creek Church Road. People around there were so bad and violent. I went to Clark Elementary School. When I first started, I was in the 3rd grade. At first I hated that school. Kids used to talk about me and say I talked white and they used to pick on me. It was hard being in that type of environment. I missed my old friends very much. I had no friends except for my teachers and family. The kids dressed crazy and it was something that I had never seen before. Now that I have lived here for almost 9 years and I met a lot of people and been a lot of places, I love D.C.

D.C is very fun. I picked up on the way people dress and talk. I met a lot of people and made new friends. It seems everywhere I go I know somebody. The malls and the late nights are fun. I love the clothes here and have my own style of dressing. Looking back at my life in Virginia, I would only go back to see family but not to stay. I love D.C. It is GREAT!!!!
