The process to get a visa in
order to get into the United
States is long and arduous. Immigrants spend
a lot of money to try and get here. First, you need to have a sponsor that can
support you if you are allowed in the United States. The sponsor is
someone who is an American citizen and they have to be able to qualify. That
means they need to have a good enough income in order to sustain them for a certain
amount of time. They also need to have a clean criminal record. After they have
all of that arranged, they have to pay a fee for every person. But for refuges, it
is a different situation. They have to go to a center so they can apply to get
a visa. Sponsors are throughout the country and the refugee workers give them a
location to go so they can live. Now the time limit for refuges is shortened because
they want to get them out of there as soon as possible because they are trying
to escape some type of persecution or poverty. Either way both immigrants or refugees
are both trying to find a home in America.
