The information,
laws, and rules have changed for both immigrants and immigration, over the
years. The first immigration law was
made in 1776. It was the Open Door Policy, which let the immigrants come to America with
out any papers or issues. The only restriction they had was that if they had a
contagious illness they could not come until they were better. After a while it
became to much so in1882, the government had the immigrants come to certain
islands one among them being Ellis Island. A
few years later the Johnson Reed Act was put into effect. This act stated that
the immigrants had to have a visa to be in America. Later, in 1990 the
Immigration Act was put into effect. This act established that categories of
employment based immigration and puts a cap on the number of non immigrant
workers. Immigrants come in all shapes, sizes, and different places of the
world. Some came from Mexico,
Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras,
Colombia, Peru, Bolivia,
Chile, and Argentina. All
of these countries are in South America. Some
also come from Asian and European countries, known as Pakistan, India,
China, South Korea, Taiwan,
Philippines, and Vietnam. Others
come from African countries, such as Sierra Leone,
Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon,
Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti,
and Eritrea.
People come from all over the world to America. Many people come to America for
many Reasons. Sometimes they come because of abuse, economical issues, and other
times because they need a new life. The United States of America has many
immigrants in it today. Without them we would not really have an America.
