Immigrants do not have the same rights as other people in the
U.S.
They can’t have the same rights because it takes time for immigrants to be
qualified to become a citizen. They have to find someone to sponsor them to come the the U.S. Also, if they want to become a
citizen they have to have a green card. But by doing this it might take them a
long time to become a citizen. Sometimes if they have a big family they might
have to leave someone behind because they couldn’t find someone else to sponsor
everyone in their family. After doing all these things, immigrants then
have to take a test to see if they know the history of the U.S. The government does these things to make sure that immigrants can be a part of the U.S. That’s why immigrants can’t become citizens right away.
