Immigrants
suffer discrimination when they don’t speak English. When some people don’t
speak English it is hard to find jobs. The immigrant needs an interpreter for
their questions to find jobs or when he is sick and needs to tell the doctor
how he feels. Another situation when somebody doesn’t speak English is to find
a school for their children. When they don’t speak English, they cannot understand
other people. So people can take advantage of them by paying them less money
for work. In the school, sometimes they
need somebody to speak with the teacher and explain what she said. The
interpreter can take advantage because maybe the teacher said something
important and the interpreter won’t say the right translation.
