I was born in Virginia but I don’t know what part of Virginia. My dad had a job in Washington D.C. so we had to move there. We moved into the southeast part of D.C. because his job was in southeast D.C. After he had been working there for about eight years, he quit. Now he has a new job and life is good. Now we are moving to Georgia or Maryland, but I don’t really know. Therefore life in D.C. is o.k. and we are doing fine.

The environment changed a lot for us when we moved to D.C. because this new neighborhood was a street. Back in Virginia, it was just houses and trees. There was also this big field that we played in. There was also this playground where kids would play. On that playground, I met my first Asian friend his name was Tony. I think Tony was Japanese or Chinese, but I don't really remember.  In my opinion, there was not as many interesting things in Washington D.C. as there are in Virginia. That’s how the environment changed a lot for us.

Now I am older and I have a stronger sense of belonging. I still live in D.C and I don’t want to move, but my mom wants to. Now I have a life in D.C and I don’t want to throw that away. I have many friends in Washington D.C and we go places sometimes. My life in D.C is a so-so type of life but it’s at least I have friends and have a sense of belonging in Washington D.C.
