I am
from El Salvador.
I moved from El Salvador to the
United States
in 2005. The similarities between the two countries are that in El Salvador I
had friends there and here I do too.
Also, I went to school there, and now I go to school here. The differences
are here, I need to learn English and in El Salvador, I knew how to speak
Spanish. Sometimes I miss my family because I don’t have all of my family here.
I miss my grandfather, sister, uncle, aunt, and nephew. The reason I came to
the U.S. is because my
grandmother died in El
Salvador and she took care of me. So I moved
to Washington D.C. to live with my mom and my sister.
Coming
to the U.S. has affected my
relationships because I have friends in El Salvador and I miss them and my
family. Sometimes I don’t have time to call.
But sometime I call and talk with my grandfather and uncle. Sometimes I feel
sad because I think about my family and friends. I lived with my grandparents
in El Salvador
for fourteen years so it is not easy for me to not talk or see them.
I
feel the English language is difficult and sometimes the weather in the winter here
is too cold. But I know I need to continue to learn for the future and my
mother made the effort to bring me here for a better life and so I can have an education. Now I feel happy because I feel adjusted here
and at school, the teacher is good to me.
